Volunteer Housing |
|
Since our program is
focused on working with the community of San Andres on a variety of
community projects, we feel that it is only fitting that volunteers
stay with local families. We currently work with 17 local families
Chable-Chi, Mendez-Fion, Quixchan-Soza, Acosta-Manzanero, Panti-Chi,
Quixchan-Chi, Lemus-Hernandez, Garcia-Quixchan, Guerra-Chata,
Curruchich-Muj, Quixchan-Manzanero, Ical-Cunil, Quixchan-Chable, Paiz,
Cuitz-Zac, Chable-Camal, and Xol-Juarez. |

Families provide
comfortable living conditions, and rooms are clean, with a bed,
mosquito net, electricity, desk, chair, and lamp. Bath and
restroom facilities are clean and typical to the area (i.e.
outhouses, and bucket baths). Meals are provided 3 times a day
and on weekends. Meals are also typical to the region (i.e. hope
you like beans, tortillas, eggs, rice, and plantains) |

Volunteers not only gain a great experience from
living with a local family, but it also helps their economic
situation. This is a unique experience in Guatemala, where as
the majority of travelers only stay in hostels and hotels and have no
real connection with the inhabitants of Guatemala. And it is
guaranteed to improve your Spanish! |
