The largest school in
San Andres is the Escuela Norte, which has an attendance of
over 300 students. It is an elementary public school that
teaches grades 1-6. The school lacks a number of resources
including a water deposit system, library, playground, proper
bathroom facilities, desks, whiteboards, and larger classroom
facilities (Currently there are between 60-80 students in each
classroom).

In October 2004, The late mayor of San Andres, Cruz
Uldarico Chata Manzanero, donated over $1,000 worth of materials to
finish the fence for the Escuela Norte. We are now looking for
donations to help pay for the final touches on the fence, and an
inauguration ceremony for the fence recognizing the donors and
especially the late mayor of San Andres. |
