Getting to San Andrès ( We will be more than happy to meet you at the bus station in Santa Elena or at the Airport in Santa Elena if you call us at 5711-0040 or 5160-9227)

BY BUS

Chicken buses and Micro-busesleave the Santa Elena Market every hour or half-hour starting at 5:30 am.  The last bus for San Andrès leaves at 5:45 pm.  Buses charge 7 Quetzals and Microbus charge 8 Quetzals. The ride to San Andrès takes about thirty minutes.

BY BOAT

Boats do not leave on a fixed schedule and are very expensive if you have to rent a private boat (at least $10).  But it is a nice twenty minute ride.

Once in San Andres

Give us a call at 5711-0040 or 5160-9227 and we will come find you or head directly to the ecological park  which is located one mile north of the town center. It’s just a twenty minute walk to the park. We are also always present in the town center at the new community library, or it is easy enough to find the director's (Mateo's) house.

Getting to Santa Elena

BY BUS  Santa Elena or Flores is 7 hours from Guatemala City.  Bus lines that run from Santa Elena from Guatemala City are Fuente del Norte, Linea Dorada, and ADN.  Luxury lines cost around $30 one way and economic lines cost about $18 one way.  It is not recommended to take a "chicken bus" to Santa Elena which costs about $10-12, for it is a most "fowl" experience (I know, bad joke). 

Buses from the Belize border town of Melchor run every half hour to Santa Elena and cost about $3.  The trip takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Buses from the Mexican border town of Bethel run twice daily, and the trip takes about 3-4 hours.  A shuttle bus is recommended over the chicken bus, however shuttle buses are usually only available though a travel agency and cost about $20. 

BY PLANE  Planes arrive daily to the Flores (Santa Elena) Airport from Guatemala City, Belize, and Cancun.  The trip takes about 45 minutes Guatemala City.  The only airline that flys into Flores is GrupoTACA .  Round trip tickets are currently $200.
