Donations

We are currently looking for and soliciting funds to continue our work in San Andrès. If you or your organization is interested in donating to our cause, please contact us at volunteerpeten@hotmail.com. For overseas transactions, we can provide the necessary information to deposit funds into our account in Guatemala or in the United States.

We are nationally recognized 501c3 organization, therefore all donations are tax-deductible. Donations cannot be refunded.

If you can fit any of the following in your backpack on the way down, we would truly appreciate it!

Books in Spanish for our library
Stop by Borders, Barns and Noble or any local bookstore and pick up a couple books in Spanish for our community library. Check the children's section of the bookstore for titles such as Escalosfrios, and other children's books, and check out the literature section for titles like Lord of the Rings, Stephen King, and others. Share your favorite titles with our community if you can find them in Spanish. We are in need of titles by Latin American authors, that include Isabel Allende, Miguel Asturias, Gabriel Marquez, etc, and anytype of Visual Enciclopedias are needed as well.
Soccer Equipment
We are getting ready to start a new and exciting community project for 2007-2008 which will focus on Sports Development with Youth. We have found it extremely easy to receive donations of old soccer equipment (jerseys, shorts, shoes, whistles, balls, etc) by asking various community leagues. We are now starting to store all sorts of equipment to help us kick off our 2007 season and project.
If you are really motivated to help...in order to start up teams, we need COMPLETE team jerseys (at least 12 of the same jersey). And if you are really really really motivated, you can get custom made jerseys that say "Deportivo San Andrés", "Juvenil San Andrés", "Barrio Norte, San Andrés", or "Los Veteranos, San Andres"
DVD's for our library and soon to be cultural center
Stop by Blockbuster, Best Buy or any store to pick up used or on sale DVDs for our movie nights with the community. We already have such titles as Harry Potter 1,2, 3, 4, X-Men2 and 3, Cat in the Hat, Princess Bride, Shrek 1,2, Garfield, IRobot, The Incredibles, Home on the Range, the School of Rock, Night at the Museum, Series of Unfortunate Events, Casper, Fly Away Home, Fern Gully, Cheaper by the Dozen, Gremlins, Goonies, Flintstones, Nutty Professor, Narnia, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Ice Age 1and2, Miracle, Flushed Away, Sky High, Karate Kid, StarWars1-6, Lots of DVDs can be found between $5 to $10. Please pick out an appropriate Children's movie or share you favorite movies with our community. BE SURE that Children's movies have a Spanish Language options!
English Teaching Guides and workbooks
Any type of TESL materiel would be extremely useful for our project.
Old Tools
hammer, pliers, screwdrivers...anything that you can fit in your luggage.
