2008 projects |
|
For 2008, we will be focusing
on 3 main projects: 1) the construction of the High School for San
Andres, 2) fencing in the ecological park, and 3) establishing a
cultural center and cultural museum for the town of San Andres.
In addition to these projects, we will have our usual set of goals
that include managing a community library, teaching in local
schools, various community projects, and conservation of the
ecological park. |

San Andres High School (Magisterio)
Project Cost: $28,000

Our most ambition project to
date. Preparation of the site began in January 2008, and 2
large groups from the US will participate in the construction of the
high school. The first group is scheduled for February and the
second in April. The High School will be completed in April,
and classes beginning in the new facilities in late April. |

Fencing in the Ecological Park
Project Cost: TOTAL $75,000
Donations Raised to date: $3,500
Due to constant encroachment on the ecological
park, we have decided to build a formal fence around the entire
park, which will 1) completely preserve the integrity of the park,
2) allow all the wildlife inside the park to live in peace from the
neighboring dogs, pigs, children, and folk with rifles, and 3) allow
us to integrate all forms of wildlife that have been extirpated from
the park. |

Cultural Center for San Andres
Project Cost: $3,000
Donations Raised to Date: $0
We are now fully integrated into the Cultural
programs of San Andres, which include their traditional dances.
To help get this group more organized and more developed, we plan on
renovating an old house in the lower section of town into a cultural
center and cultural museum. |
